WhAT is Marinecorps?

-What is Dragon Ball Online?

In February of 2010, an MMO released in Korea under the name of "Dragon Ball Online".  Dragon Ball Online was a Dragon Ball-based online game that takes place over 300 years after the events of Dragon Ball Z, where martial artists roam the world and a new great evil has surfaced.  Players could choose between playing as humans, Namekians, or Majin, and explore the world of DBO, learning powerful skills, obtaining cool gear, and revisiting old moments of DB history with the introduction of a time travel organization known as the "Time Patrol".

Servers would later release in Taiwan and Hong Kong in 2011, and would gain a small following overseas as some devoted fans in the West gained interest and found ways to play the game.  However, the game would fail to meet the numbers expected, and in 2013 the servers shut down and DBO would never see a Western release.  Later Dragon Ball Heroes and eventually Xenoverse would take their roots from Dragon Ball Online and use their characters such as Mira and Towa and elements of their setting to tell new stories that would become very popular across the globe.

However, since the closing of DBO, many of the old devoted fans from 2011-2013 would get involved in future revival projects, some of which are still in progress to this day.  A few notable projects have been Dragon Ball Online Revelations, Dragon Ball Online Global, and recently Dragon Ball Online Universe Revelations, with many more expected to release in 2020 and the year after.

-What is Marinecorps?

During the days of the DBO server in Taiwan existed a small guild known as Marinecorps.  They were a guild of Western players on the server who put heavy emphasis on loyalty. The two guild leaders, known as Mirror and Jaryan, named the guild after their real experience with the marine core, and led the guild to decent success in the foreign server.   Their moderate success led to them fusing with a few other Western guilds to form Uprise, a larger guild to combat the Taiwanese guilds.

After the servers closed, Marinecorps remained a presence and eventually reinstated themselves on the forums of the DBO Revelations project.  During this time, Mirrow and Jaryan retired from the scene, and a devoted upstart by the name of Shyruni took over the guild and attempted to keep it going after the new project seemingly closed its doors.

For personal reasons the guild never instituted itself into DBOG despite a few playing it, and thus Marinecorps mostly faded into public obscurity like many of the guilds.  However, the guild remained mostly intact and while much has changed, the core base from the DBOR forums stuck together.

And thus the guild pressed on.  Now projects are rising up left and right, and Marinecorps will rise once again and fight on the frontlines of DBO.
